About Us
Mythology Marketing & Production is a full-service digital marketing agency based in New York. We produce high-performance social media video content for contractors, local service companies, and real estate agents. Our content is fast-paced, cinematic, and built to stop the scroll — think punchy hooks, clean motion graphics, and dynamic editing that makes trades and service companies look like premium brands.
We're growing fast and need a skilled video editor who wants to grow with us — not someone building their own freelance client list on the side. This is a dedicated contractor role. We're looking for someone who's all in on being part of a team, takes ownership of their work, and wants a long-term home with an agency that's scaling.
What You'll Be Editing
You'll be working on short-form vertical video content (Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts) for our clients. Videos range from 30 to 90 seconds. Content includes:
Contractor and home service brand videos
Personal brand / talking head content for real estate agents
Property showcase videos (listings, walkthroughs, neighborhood tours)
Real estate agent branding and authority content
Job transformation (before/after) videos
Sales and trust-building content for field reps
Requirements:
• Software
Final Cut Pro — this is non-negotiable. All editing is done in FCP. Do not apply if you use Premiere, DaVinci, or CapCut exclusively.
• Motion Graphics & VFX
Motion VFX plugin experience is required. You must know how to install, use, and customize Motion VFX templates within Final Cut Pro.
Ability to apply and modify motion graphics overlays, transitions, and title sequences from Motion VFX libraries.
• Transitions & Sound Design
Ryan Nangle transitions — you must have experience using Ryan Nangle's FCP transition packs or be familiar with his style of whip cuts, glitch transitions, and kinetic edits.
SounDesign — experience using SounDesign's sound effects library is required. Every cut, transition, and motion graphic should have intentional sound design behind it. Whooshes, impacts, risers, and UI sounds must be used purposefully to elevate the edit — not slapped on randomly.
Smooth, intentional transitions that match music beats and energy shifts.
• Captions / Subtitles
Must be able to produce clean, styled captions synced to speech.
Experience with caption styles that are on-brand for social media (bold, mobile-readable, punchy word-by-word or line-by-line reveals).
Bonus: Familiarity with auto-caption plugins or workflows within FCP.
• General Editing Skills
Strong sense of pacing and rhythm — you cut to the music, not just the words.
Experience editing branding videos, on-site construction content, or real estate content
Ability to work with multi-angle footage and choose the best angles naturally.
Color grading to a clean, polished look (not flat, not over-processed).
Audio cleanup: background noise reduction, volume leveling, music mixing under voiceover.
Speed ramps and slow-motion effects for cinematic
Ability to follow a shot list / scene table and translate it into a finished edit without heavy hand-holding.

Able to receive footage and direction via
Reliable turnaround times — typically 24–48 hours per video depending on length and complexity.
Responsive on messaging (we use WhatsApp or Slack for communication).
Comfortable with revision rounds and direct feedback without ego.
Bonus (Not Required, But Will Get You Noticed)
Experience editing for trades/contractor/home service brands
Experience editing real estate content — property walkthroughs, agent branding, listing videos
Familiarity with social media content strategy and why certain edits perform better
Ability to create simple lower thirds or text animations inside Motion
Experience editing content for U.S.-based clients with fast-paced marketing needs
