Editorial Designer & Publishing Assistant

## InDesign / Editorial Production / Substack Publishing

I’m looking for an editorial designer and publishing assistant to help produce a premium monthly print publication and industry newsletter focused on advertising, media, AI and digital infrastructure.

This is editorial publishing work — not social media graphic design or corporate marketing collateral.

The publication covers:

* AdTech
* programmatic advertising
* AI
* retail media
* CTV
* digital infrastructure
* media operations

The tone is intelligent, opinionated and operator-led.

The visual direction is inspired by:

* Monocle
* Financial Times Weekend
* premium editorial magazines
* modern culture publications

This is an opportunity to help build a modern media publication and growing industry brand with a strong editorial identity.

## What You’ll Do

Each month you will:

* Take finished Word documents and adapt them into print layouts
* Format and flow copy inside Adobe InDesign
* Create elegant editorial page layouts
* Design spreads, pull quotes and typography systems
* Prepare commercial print-ready PDFs
* Maintain a consistent visual identity issue-to-issue
* Upload and format articles inside Substack
* Edit article formatting for readability and presentation
* Ensure consistency across both digital and print publishing
* Source, crop and treat editorial imagery where required
* Help improve editorial production workflows over time

## Style Requirements

The publication should feel:

* premium
* editorial
* minimal
* intelligent
* clean
* culturally aware

NOT:

* corporate
* salesy
* cluttered
* generic B2B design

Strong typography and spacing are extremely important.

## Required Skills

You must have:

* Strong Adobe InDesign experience
* Active Adobe Creative Cloud access
* Editorial or magazine layout experience
* Excellent typography skills
* Experience preparing commercial print-ready files
* Understanding of grids, margins, whitespace and editorial pacing
* Experience formatting content inside publishing platforms such as Substack
* Ability to source and work with editorial imagery
* Good visual judgement
* Strong attention to detail
* Fluent written and spoken English
* Ability to communicate clearly via Slack
* Ability to work independently and proactively improve workflows
* Reliable internet connection and professional remote work setup

Bonus if you have experience with:

* magazine publishing
* newspaper/editorial production
* lookbooks
* luxury/lifestyle publications
* independent media brands

## Workflow & Communication

* Ongoing monthly role
* Approx. 10-15 hours per week
* Paid monthly
* Communication will happen primarily through Slack
* You should be comfortable collaborating in a London timezone workflow
* Fast turnaround and responsiveness are important during production periods

## Access & Tools Provided

You will be provided with:

* Company Microsoft Outlook email address
* Office 365 access
* Adobe InDesign access
* Relevant publishing and workflow access required for the role

## Deliverables

Each month:

* Print-ready publication layouts
* Approx. 24-page A4 issue
* Perfect bound print setup
* Exported high-resolution print PDFs
* Properly formatted and published Substack articles

## Important
