Editorial Assistant

Job Description
University Medical Press (UMP) publishes several international peer-reviewed medical journals. We are looking for a detail-oriented Filipino Virtual Assistant to support our editorial workflow. You can see our website here: ----------
This is a fully remote role. Prior medical publishing experience is helpful but not required—we provide full training, step-by-step workflows, and templates.

Responsibilities
• Check newly submitted manuscripts to make sure they follow journal guidelines and submission checklists.
• Confirm required files are included (title page, abstract, figures, disclosures, etc.).
• If requirements are not met, send a standard message asking authors to revise.
• If requirements are met, assign peer reviewers using the journal system.
• For some journals, reviewer assignment is the main task (technical checks already done).
• Track reviewer responses and send reminders when needed.
• Maintain reviewer database (all authors should be added).
• Follow clear instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
-Strong written English
-Excellent attention to detail
-Ability to follow checklists and workflows
-Reliable internet and computer
-Organized, dependable, and responsive

Nice to Have (Not Required)
• Experience as a Virtual Assistant or Administrative Assistant
• Familiarity with academic, research, or medical content
• Experience using online systems or databases

Training & Support
• Full training provided
• Written step-by-step instructions
• Templates for all emails and tasks
• Ongoing guidance and feedback

Work Schedule and Compensation
• Part time 15hrs per week (2 hrs per day, plus 1 hr weekly meeting)
• Hourly rate: $6/hr (promotions available)
• Philippines-based applicants only
• Long-term role for the right candidate
