JOB OVERVIEW

Role Details

Role Title: Data Scientist
Business Unit: Science Department
Contract Type: Full-Time, 2-Month Contract Only (40 hours/week)
Potential for extension to permanent full-time position
Location: Remote

Reporting To:
– Biosensor Scientist
– Lead Engineer

Working Hours: Full-time, flexible within PH working hours

Required Qualifications:
A degree in Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative discipline.

Project Background

We are developing an advanced wearable biosensor patch that measures biochemical analytes through the skin and can be worn for several days. Each week, we run continuous automated tests producing large volumes of sensor data recorded in spreadsheets.

This role focuses on processing, correlating, cleaning, and analysing these multi-day time-series datasets to evaluate prototype performance, improve sensor design, and support upcoming animal trials.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Processing & Signal Analysis
- Aggregate and preprocess multiple spreadsheets from 24/7 prototype testing.
- Build continuous multi-day time-series graphs for each sensor.
- Remove noise, sharp peaks, and artefacts caused by solution changes or hardware transitions.

Performance Metric Calculations:
Develop automated pipelines for measuring:
- Sensitivity (change in output per unit input)
- Accuracy (closeness to true values)
- Measurement Range (min-max detectable values)
- Linearity (output proportionality to input)
- Drift (output stability over time)
- Hysteresis (path-dependent output differences)
- Response Time (time to detect input changes)
- Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR; signal quality amid noise)
- Repeatability (consistency under identical conditions)

Statistical Analysis & Visualisation
- Analyse trends, anomalies, and correlations.
- Include environmental and biological variables such as temperature, pH, hydration, biofouling, and movement.

Machine Learning
- Build predictive models for drift forecasting.
- Classify prototypes based on performance metrics.
- Contribute to pharmacokinetic modelling (e.g., medication levels, electrolytes, GFR).

Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers, scientists, and medical advisors.
- Provide insights for prototype iteration and optimisation.
- Support documentation for internal reviews, stakeholders, and regulatory submissions.

Data Infrastructure:
- Maintain SQL databases and version-controlled repositories.
- Support integration with benchtop instruments and automated testing systems.

Compliance & Security
- Ensure safe and confidential handling of sensitive data.
- Assist in troubleshooting data-related issues across teams.

How to Apply:

Please submit your CV and a brief summary of relevant experience.
Any portfolio links, GitHub, or examples of data analysis and machine learning work

Health-tech or biosensor background is a strong plus but not required for skilled candidates.
