About Sera Engineered
Sera Engineered is a US-based civil engineering firm specializing in high-end residential and commercial land development. We provide a holistic suite of services including landscape architecture, utility design, stormwater management, surveying, and certified arborist work. We pride ourselves on precision, environmental stewardship, and design documents that set the industry standard for clarity and technical accuracy.
The Role
We are seeking an Advanced Civil Design Engineer to serve as a technical lead within our production team. This is not a "redline drafter" position. We are looking for an engineer who understands the "why" behind the "how." You will be responsible for the engineering logic of our site designs, ensuring that grading, drainage, and utilities are not only compliant with US codes but are optimized for construction and environmental preservation.
Core Responsibilities
Comprehensive Site Engineering: Develop full construction document sets from raw survey data, with a primary focus on grading, drainage, and utility infrastructure.
Stormwater Management (SWM) & Hydraulics: Perform complex hydrological calculations (Rational Method/TR-55) to size detention facilities, water quality structures, and conveyance systems.
Advanced Utility Coordination: Design and profile gravity sewer (10" SSWR) and pressurized water systems (8" W), proactively identifying and resolving vertical and horizontal conflicts (clash detection).
Environmental Integration: Incorporate arborist-led constraints into the civil design, specifically protecting Critical Root Zones (CRZ) and establishing Limits of Disturbance (LOD) to meet strict environmental regulations.
Quality Control (The CIV200 Standard): Take full ownership of the CIV200 sheet series. Ensure all plans reflect the Sera Engineered legend, keynotes, and aesthetic standards—delivering "permit-ready" sets that require minimal revision.
Proactive Problem Solving: Identify potential field issues (e.g., ADA slope non-compliance or utility crossings) during the design phase to prevent costly Change Orders.
Technical Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Licensed Engineer preferred).
Experience: 5+ years of experience in US-based land development or site civil design.
Software Mastery: Expert-level AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency is mandatory (Surfaces, Pipe Networks, Pressure Networks, Alignments, and Data Shortcuts).
Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of US-based design standards, including ADA accessibility and local municipal drainage codes.
Communication: Exceptional English communication skills, capable of explaining complex engineering logic clearly.
Operational Compliance
Workflow: Must be disciplined in time-tracking via QuickBooks (using our "Project ID – Project Name" naming convention).
Payroll: Payments are processed exclusively through Globalization Partners (G-P).
Security: Must maintain a high Audit Point (AP) score (20 preferred) and possess a current, valid NBI Clearance.
