Children’s Book Layout Designer

We are a mission-driven children’s product brand looking for a designer with real experience designing children’s books, picture books, graphic books, or storybooks.

This is not a general graphic design or social media design role. We need someone who understands children’s book layout, page flow, typography, image placement, print-ready files, and how to create pages that feel warm, engaging, and age-appropriate for young children.

You will work with provided text, illustrations, brand assets, and creative direction to design polished children’s books, mini books, educational pages, activity-style content, and related print/digital materials.

Responsibilities
* Design children’s book layouts using provided text and illustrations
* Create engaging page spreads for young children
* Choose age-appropriate typography, spacing, and visual hierarchy
* Format books for print and digital use
* Prepare print-ready files with proper bleed, trim, margins, and resolution
* Create related educational or activity-style materials
* Follow brand guidelines and creative direction
* Make revisions based on feedback

Must-Have Experience
Please only apply if you have:
* Experience designing children’s books, picture books, graphic books, or storybooks
* A portfolio with actual children’s book or children’s publishing samples
* Strong layout and typography skills
* Experience creating print-ready files
* Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, Figma, Affinity, or similar tools
* Good communication and attention to detail
* Ability to follow creative direction and deadlines

Nice to Have
* Experience with children’s educational content
* Experience designing books for ages 3–8
* Experience with activity books, workbooks, or early learning materials
* Experience preparing files for professional printers, Amazon KDP, or offset printing
* Illustration experience, though this role is primarily for book layout/design

Important
Children’s book design experience is required. Social media graphics, logos, flyers, or general Canva designs are not enough unless you also have children’s book or children’s publishing work in your portfolio.
