JOB OVERVIEW

Job Title: Accounting Specialist
Division/Department: EJF Real Estate Services
Reports To: Director of Corporate Accounting (DCA)

EJF Real Estate is a well established, rapidly growing residential real estate company in the District of Columbia is seeking to hire an experienced Accounting Specialist who is responsible, organized, detail oriented, and reliable to join our fun/hard working team. You must have excellent communication skills.

Job purpose:

The accounting specialist (AS) will work directly with the DCA to maintain the accounts for numerous companies. The AS is responsible for downloading and posting all daily bank account transactions and properly coding the transactions. The AS will maintain all GL accounts and the chart of accounts. This position requires an extremely detail orientated person with significant knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping, and Quickbooks.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Daily activities include maintaining bank feeds between various banks and their respective accounts in Quickbooks. Once downloaded, the AS will code transactions to the proper GL to ensure accurate accounting.

- The AS will be responsible for maintaining rules for transactions and other methods of creating efficiencies for posting a large batch of transactions each day.

- Weekly activities will include posting invoices, creating invoices, posting payments, and making deposits.

- Monthly activities include bank reconciliation, ledger tie outs, journal entry postings, inter-company billing, and performing other duties to close the books each month.

- Analyze financial results and post information into monthly reports for the Executive Team.

- Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports.

- Performs various journal entries, account reconciliations, and provides general ledger support.

- Helps in the preparation of the annual budget for multiple companies.

- Support the DCA in the administration and preparation of information for opening and closing bank accounts.

- Will be part of the Financial Team and work collaboratively with teaUpgrade to see actual infombers. Attend required weekly meeting and participate by setting goals and completing assigned tasks.

- Prepare written reports to accompany financial data.

- Must be able to analyze data, problems, and issues, formulate solutions, and execute the resolutions. The AS must have at least an intermediate understanding of accounting principles.

- Willing to learn new software.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualificatio:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field required.
- 3-5 years of accounting/analyst experience is REQUIRED..
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles.
- MUST be highly proficient in Excel.
- MUST be fluent in English and have excellent writing skills.


Preferred Education and Experience:

- Proficient at Microsoft Office Suite and specifically Excel.
- Proficient in Quickbooks.
- Must be well organized and a self-starter.
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, accounting principles knowledge, documentation. skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.


Working conditions:

- Candidate must be able to work from 9 am to 5 pm EST.
- Comfortable working with Hubstaff.

Compensation & Benefits:

- $6 USD per hour (Non-negotiable).
- PTO after 90 days of probationary period.
- HMO allowance after 90 days of probationary period.
