Accounting Manager – Growing Private Company (100% Remote)

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to help lead the accounting function for our growing private company. This role requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, GAAP compliance, and hands-on experience with multi-entity or complex accounting operations, including construction accounting. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-growing environment and is ready to take ownership of the full accounting cycle while leveraging modern tools, including AI and automation, to streamline processes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee full-cycle accounting: general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, and budget variance analyses.
• Lead journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage tax compliance, including sales/use tax, payroll tax, and corporate tax filings.
• Handle construction accounting, including job costing, project billing, and contract tracking.
• Drive process improvements, adopting AI and automation tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with leadership on financial planning, forecasting, and analysis to support business growth.
• Provide guidance on complex accounting issues, ensuring adherence to GAAP and best practices.
• Maintain books and records that would hold up to audit scrutiny (we are not yet audited but want to be audit ready)
• Oversee compliance reporting for payroll taxes, insurance, benefits, 401k, in conjunction with outside payroll processor provide and benefits providers

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; U.S. Certified Public Accountant strongly preferred.
• 5–8 years of accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting policies.
• Experience with private company accounting, multi-entity accounting, and construction accounting preferred.
• Proficient in accounting software, with strong preference and experience in QuickBooks Online (QBO); capable of leading system transitions to new accounting platforms as the organization grows.
• Comfortable leveraging AI tools and automation to improve accounting processes.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, growing company.
