Accountant – Levels 3 - 4
Position Summary
At NLN, Accountants are foundational to delivering financial clarity and operational excellence for our clients. Whether handling reconciliations, closing the books, or supporting financial reporting, NLN Accountants ensure that every number tells a story and every report drives confident decision-making. This role supports client work under the guidance of Controllers, Advisors, and CFOs and grows over time through four clearly defined levels of mastery.

Responsibilities (All Levels)
Accounting & Month-End Close
- Record, reconcile, and review financial transactions across all accounts
- Perform and document monthly close processes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain clean, GAAP-compliant ledgers across client files
Financial Reporting & Audit Support
- Prepare reporting packages and financial schedules
- Support internal and external audits with clean documentation
- Deliver on-time and accurate reports that are trusted by clients and senior staff
AP, AR & Cash Management
- Own AP and AR coding, transaction entry, and reconciliation workflows
- Assist with billing, collections, and payment cycles as needed
- Support or execute payroll posting and benefit allocations
System Proficiency & Process Improvement
- Utilize tools like QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, ---------- , Gusto, and Excel to support all accounting tasks
- Participate in tool onboarding and provide feedback on efficiency or optimization opportunities
- Document SOPs and help maintain consistency across the team
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with NLN Controllers, Advisors, and CFOs to support deliverables
- Take initiative in communication, flag risks or delays early, and support client relationships with professionalism
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or comparable experience)
- Knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practices
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel, and/or Sage Intacct
- Strong attention to detail and accountability
- Ability to manage tasks across multiple clients with clarity and confidence
Mastery Levels
Accountant 3: Senior Accountant
- Leads the full closing cycle, including flux and revenue analysis
- Produces and owns the audit-ready schedules
- Contributes to process improvement and standardization
- Payroll entry, reconciliation and journal posting.
Accountant 4: Lead Accountant
- Mentors junior tea ---------- mbers and champions tool adoption
- Owns preliminary reporting packages, dashboards, monthly reporting insights, and systems governance
- Drives automation and optimization within financial workflows
- Assists Controller with analysis required by Advisors, CFOs and clients

Training to be assigned for move up by the Director / VP of Training and Development.
