AI Engineer – Automation & LLMs

We are seeking a highly capable AI Agent Developer / AI Automation Engineer to join an established Australian company in a long-term technical role focused on building real-world AI systems that support day-to-day business operations. This is not a short-term AI experiment or a prompt-writing position. You will play a key role in designing, deploying and maintaining scalable AI agents and automation workflows that integrate with internal systems, business processes, knowledge bases, documents, emails and operational tools.

The ideal candidate is a technically strong software developer with hands-on experience working with AI technologies such as local LLMs, Ollama, APIs, Docker and automation platforms. You should be comfortable building reliable, production-ready AI solutions that solve practical business problems and improve operational efficiency across the organisation.

Required skills:

• Strong software development experience, preferably Python.
• Practical experience with AI agents, LLM workflows or AI automation.
• Experience with Ollama, local LLMs or OpenAI-compatible APIs.
• Experience with Docker.
• Ability to work with APIs, JSON, webhooks, databases and backend systems.
• Understanding of RAG, embeddings, vector databases and prompt design.
• Strong written English.
• Reliable remote-work setup.

Nice-to-have skills:

• LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack, CrewAI, AutoGen or similar agent frameworks.
• n8n or similar workflow automation tools.
• Qdrant, Chroma, Pinecone, Weaviate or similar vector databases.
• PostgreSQL, Supabase or other database experience.
• Linux server administration, Portainer, reverse proxies or SSL setup.
• Experience integrating AI with email, CRMs, helpdesks, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, knowledge bases or websites.
