About Darren Evans Ltd
We are a purpose-driven sustainability consultancy on a mission to improve the built environment for people and the planet. As a B-Corp and industry influencer, we sit at the intersection of compliance, culture, and clarity, helping developers, architects, and engineers navigate the complex world of sustainable construction.
With a proven consultancy model and over 20,000 podcast subscribers, we're building the next phase of our evolution: AI-powered tools that unlock early design guidance, automate regulatory pathways, and scale sustainability through technology.
The Role
You will be the lead technical mind behind our push to build transformative AI-driven tools for the built environment.
You’ll be responsible for developing an intelligent, learning-based agent that supports and automates key regulatory and assessment pathways, starting with Part L, Part O, BREEAM, and the London Plan. You’ll work directly with the CEO and be surrounded by deep domain expertise in energy modelling, carbon strategy, and policy, but you’ll own the AI vision and build.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to build something that could shift an entire industry.
Key Responsibilities
Architect and develop an AI agent to ingest, interpret, and execute compliance assessments.
Integrate Part L, Part O, and BREEAM logic using publicly available datasets, documentation, and probabilistic modelling.
Build intelligent workflows to process planning documents, architectural drawings (PDF, DWG, IFC), and regulatory templates.
Design user-centric prompts and agent flows that simplify decision-making for non-technical users.
Collaborate with domain experts to fine-tune system outputs and create training datasets.
Stay ahead of LLM/AI trends and recommend architectures, APIs, and frameworks (e.g. LangChain, RAG, Claude, OpenAI, or open-source)
Assist in creating IP that can be licensed, scaled, or white-labelled
Who You Are
Deep experience in AI/ML engineering, natural language processing, or applied machine learning
Strong Python skills; comfortable building production-grade systems (e.g. using LangChain, FastAPI, vector databases, etc.)
Experience working with unstructured and structured data, especially interpreting PDFs, spreadsheets, or documents for logic extraction
A builder mindset: self-starting, proactive, creative, and motivated by solving real-world problems
Excited about climate impact, sustainable development, or systems change
Bonus if you have:
Exposure to geospatial, built environment, or regulatory data
Experience with Revit/DWG/IFC parsing or CAD/BIM integrations
A passion for enabling others through clear design and automation
What We Offer
A blank slate and huge vision — your work will define the future of our industry-facing tools.
Direct access to industry leadership, clients, and real-world problem sets
Flexible working, outcomes-driven culture, and values that truly matter
The chance to lead AI development in a high-trust, purpose-led organisation that’s scaling fast
