About the Project
Grassroots Legends is an indie simcade racing game in active development, featuring 80s and 90s period vehicles across multiple disciplines (dirt track, rally, rallycross, road, and arena racing). Think beat-up everyday cars from that era, lightly prepped and sent wheel-to-wheel. The vibe is authentic grassroots motorsport, not polished GT cars.
The Role
We're looking for a part-time Blender artist to help optimize existing car models and contribute to the vehicle lineup. You'll be working closely with the creative director on a game that values authenticity. Knowing your Commodores from your Corollas, and basic motorsport understanding is highly valued.
What You'll Be Doing
Optimizing existing vehicle meshes (polygon reduction, LODs, UV cleanup) for game-engine performance
Maintaining visual accuracy on 80s/90s period cars across multiple racing disciplines
Communicating clearly with the creative director through revision rounds (English via discord or whatsapp)
What We're Looking For
Solid Blender skills with a vehicle modeling portfolio — show us real car work
Knowledge of 80s/90s cars valued, familiarity with grassroots/budget motorsport (dirt oval, rally, demo derby, etc.)
Understanding of real-time optimization: LODs, poly budgets, clean topology
Self-directed and reliable: This is a small indie project and we need people who take ownership
Nice to Have
Experience working on racing games or vehicle mods
Interior / cockpit design skills
PBR texturing skills
How to Apply
Send us:
(1) a portfolio link with your best vehicle work,
(2) background / interest in motorsport / cars, if any
(3) your expected hourly rate or typical rates per vehicle / optimization.
No portfolio = no consideration.
