2D Animator

About the role:

BattlePaws is looking for a long-term, full-time 2D animator for YouTube content focused on history, mythology, battles, and immersive storytelling videos.

The channel style is inspired by:

-Fast-paced YouTube storytelling animation

The goal is NOT Disney-level animation quality. Strong pacing, comedic timing, visual storytelling, and retention-focused animation matter more than ultra-smooth frame-by-frame work.

Production expectations:

Average video length: 10–15 minutes
Expected workload: 3 videos per month
Future goal: 30-minute videos as the channel grows
Minimum export quality: 1080p
Animation software: any (After Effects, Animate, Toon Boom, Blender, etc.)

Workflow & communication

Trello is used for project management and production tracking.
A WhatsApp group is used for daily communication and feedback.
English does not need to be perfect — but you must be able to clearly understand simple instructions and scripts.

What BattlePaws provides for each video:

Full script
Voice-over (recorded)
Storyboard images
All final animations and assets created for the channel belong to BattlePaws

Recruitment & filtering process:

Step 1 — Initial Application Filter

Applicants are first filtered based on:

Portfolio quality
Communication
Responsiveness
Compatibility with the channel style
This first pass is mainly used to remove low-effort or incompatible applicants and is not heavily scored.

Required in your application (in this order):

1. Start with the word: Legion
2. Brief intro — your name, country, and years of 2D animation experience
3. Confirm you can work FULL-TIME (30–40 hrs/week, ~3 videos/month minimum)
4. Portfolio link (past animation work — at least 2–3 samples)
5. Animation software you use most
6. Your time zone (so we know if we can sync via WhatsApp)
Applications that don't include all six items above, or that don't start with "Legion," will be ignored.

Step 2 — Paid Animation Test
Selected applicants from Step 1 will be invited to a paid animation test.
The test materials are hosted in this read-only Google Drive folder:

Inside you'll find:

The full brief (READ FIRST/)
3 scenes of script + voice-over + storyboard images (References/, Storyboards/, Voice Over/)
A preview MP4 showing scene-change timing
Channel style references and mascot turntable
The storyboard is creative guidance, not strict frame-by-frame instructions. Creative improvements are welcome if they fit the channel style.

The test evaluates:

Pacing
Comedic timing
Visual clarity
Ability to follow instructions
Communication
Workflow organization
Overall YouTube retention quality

Technical requirements:

Resolution: 1920 × 1080
Frame rate: 30 fps
Export format: MP4 (H.264)

Required deliverables:

Final MP4 export
Project files
Assets used during production

Time & deadline:

Approximately 4–6 hours of work expected
Hard deadline: 48–72 hours from receiving the test
Smooth animation is not the priority — strong storytelling, efficient workflow, and engaging pacing matter more

Step 3 — Final Selection :
The later stages of recruitment become much more selective. The final decision is based on:
Reliability
Communication
Speed
Consistency
Ability to work long-term within the BattlePaws production pipeline

If you're officially selected after the test phase, you receive a $75 USD bonus alongside your first project's compensation.
Payment structure

Month 1: paid per video at the starting rate
Month 2+: increased per-video pay for strong performance
Long-term top performers: transition into a stable full-time position with performance bonuses tied to video success
