I find Xero accounting software really user-friendly, which makes my work easier and faster. I’m comfortable using cash coding for quick bank categorization and reconciliations. Creating invoices and bills is straightforward since I can use the same contact for both. Allocating credit notes to invoices is also a breeze. I’ve worked on importing customized charts of accounts, bills, invoices, and bank transactions into Xero without any issues. Plus, I’ve successfully migrated client data from QuickBooks Online to Xero, so I’m confident in handling different accounting systems.
Experience: 6 months - 1 year
I’m experienced in cleaning up messy transactions in QuickBooks Online. Before diving into the cleanup, I always start with an audit walkthrough to get a clear picture of the period and date range I need to focus on, as well as when the last tax return was filed. It’s important to me that all transactions are recorded properly in QBO. I make sure that bank and credit card balances are reconciled with their statements, and I do the same for PayPal and Stripe accounts if they’re involved. I also take care of any undeposited funds and settle them correctly. Reviewing financial reports is crucial, so I always go over the balance sheet, profit and loss, and accounts receivable aging. If I spot any negative balances on the profit and loss or balance sheet, I know something’s off. Invoices that are more than 90 days overdue in accounts receivable also get my attention. Once the cleanup is done, I manage the monthly maintenance of the books to keep everything accurate and up-to-date, so the books are always tax-ready.
Experience: 1 - 2 years
I’m well-versed in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), so I have a solid understanding of how accounting and bookkeeping should be done. I handle the entire accounting cycle, from journalizing transactions to preparing and sending financial reports. I also take care of adjusting and reversing entries to ensure everything is accurate. By the time I’m finished, the books are cleaned up and ready for the next financial year.
