Due to the aborted triumph of the Philippine Revolution, many Katipuneros and sympathizers, and North Americans promise of eventually granting Philippine independence, led the Philippine legislature to send independence missions to the congress to convince members to sponsor independent bills for the Philippines which was the first step for such an endeavor.

Due however to Quezon’s instigation officially on the grounds of non nationalistic provisions of the establishment of US Military bases despite the granting of Philippine Independence (but in reality, the possibility of being eclipsed by Osmeña in the next election for bringing home the bacon), the said bill was rejected by the Philippine legislature.

The collective psychological state of the Filipinos is not holistically independent because they still have an inferiority complex towards other countries. The trauma that Filipinos experienced during Spanish colonial times was passed on from generation to generation. The reverberations of Spanish colonialism have been engraved in the minds of Filipino ‘til the contemporary era. Furthermore, in a political state, Filipinos especially destitute Filipino citizens are submissive and subservient towards the unlawful and unfair justice system of the Philippines.
