Property Accountant/Financial Officer

About the Job: A growing property management company is looking to hire a Property Accountant/Financial Officer based in NYC. You MUST have experience with property management in the United States, specifically bookkeeping for co-ops and/or condos. New York experience a big plus. You must be able to do bookkeeping and assist with audits and all information for audits. You will be meticulous, organized, and have reliable access to online tools. The right candidate can build a long-term career with a dynamic and reputable property management company.

Job function:

Handle full cycle accounting for a real estate portfolio with limited supervision
Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and produce monthly financial statements and supplementary reporting as required
Utilize budgets and other tools to analyze variances and reconcile payments applied against major contract values
Prepare journal entries and reconcile monthly bank statements to the general ledger
Process bank receipts and prepare bank deposits along with common area maintenance and real estate tax reconciliations
Ensure all GST and other legislated taxes and assessments are reconciled and remitted
Monitor cash positions and anticipate future cash deficiencies
Monitor and review monthly receivables for accuracy, adjustments, and/or corrections
Monitor and review accounts payable coding for accuracy, review and approve all payables
Review tenant ledgers and reconcile billings
New property set up, analysis, and follow up of outstanding issues as required


Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting is strongly preferred
3 plus years of residential property accounting
General operational accounting
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience with Appfolio
