Role Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Backend Engineer with a strong foundation in server-side technologies to join our dynamic team. You’ll work primarily on the backend, building APIs, and integrating with internal and external systems to support our custom resale marketplace platform. You’ll bring a deep understanding of backend development, data management, and functional programming principles to the role, creating reliable, scalable solutions to power our analytics and marketplace functionalities.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain server-side logic using TypeScript, MongoDB, Node.js, and Express.
- Build and optimise APIs to manage and analyse customer and marketplace data.
- Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate server-side functionality, ensuring seamless end-to-end user experiences.
- Ensure high performance and responsiveness of backend services.
- Implement data management practices for reliable data access and analysis, including integrating with external systems for resale and retail transaction tracking.
- Contribute to code quality through peer code reviews and best practices in functional programming.
- Support application deployment and production server management.
- Engage effectively with tea ---------- mbers to align on project goals, deadlines, and technical approaches.

Required Skills
- [Minimum 5+ years] Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js/Express for backend development.
- Experience with MongoDB for data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
- Functional programming principles, with an emphasis on using pure functions and avoiding in-place data mutations.

Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Next.js and React for seamless integration with front-end elements.
- AWS knowledge for infrastructure management and scalable service deployment.

Technical Test Overview
As part of the interview process, candidates will complete a backend-focused technical test. This task involves building an analytics service to compare customer spending behaviour across resale and new retail transactions. You’ll use mock JSON files to simulate data sources for resale marketplace and new retail transactions, focusing on:

- Average Spend Analysis: Compare average spends between resale and non-resale customers.
- Customer Acquisition Tracking: Identify customers acquired through the resale platform.
The test assesses your skills in data handling, TypeScript, MongoDB, Node.js/Express, and functional programming.

Interview Process
- Video Introduction: Submit a brief self-introduction video.
- Interview with CTO: Discuss your experience, qualifications, and motivation.
- Take-Home Tech Test: Complete a technical task showcasing your backend skills.
- Final Interview: Meet with the CTO and CEO for a deeper discussion on company fit and vision alignment.
