Structural Drafter / Residential Structural CAD Designer

I am hiring a full-time Structural Drafter / Residential Structural CAD Designer

This role is strictly for candidates with strong experience in Wood Residential projects, Wood Framing, and US or International residential construction projects.

This is not a beginner role. The right candidate must already have the technical skill set, drafting discipline, and accountability to produce accurate structural drawing sets from day one. The firm uses SOPs, project checklists, and QC workflows, and every drafter is expected to follow them without exception.

Responsibilities

- Prepare residential structural drafting packages for permit and construction documentation
- Draft foundation plans, wall framing plans, floor framing plans, roof framing plans, structural details, sections, and connection details
- Work from architectural plans, engineer markups, manufacturer drawings, and structural design direction
- Accurately incorporate engineer redlines and markups into final drawing sets
- Interpret joist and truss manufacturer layouts for framing plans
- Draft wood framing details and residential structural components
- Assist with ICF wall systems and related structural drafting when needed
- Coordinate structural drawings with architectural plans
- Review and mark up PDFs using Bluebeam
- Maintain organized CAD files and project documentation
- Follow SOPs and complete project checklists on every project
- Self-check all work before submission
- Ask clear questions before proceeding when anything is unclear

Requirements

- Minimum 3 years of structural drafting experience
- Strong experience in Wood Residential projects
- Strong experience in Wood Framing
- Experience with US or International residential construction projects
- Strong knowledge of foundation, wall framing, floor framing, roof framing, and structural details
- Expert-level AutoCAD skills
- Strong Bluebeam experience for redlines, markups, and revisions
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, structural plans, joist layouts, truss plans, engineer markups, and structural details
- Experience working with structured SOPs, checklists, and QC workflows
- Must be detail-oriented, accountable, and highly organized
- Must be proactive and reliable
- Must have a strong personality and be able to communicate clearly
- Must be able to work under pressure and manage multiple active projects
- Must ask questions instead of guessing when instructions are unclear

Preferred Qualifications

- Revit experience
- Experience working directly with licensed structural or civil engineers
- Experience with US residential permit documentation
- Experience with ICF structural detailing
- Exposure to multi-family or light commercial structural drafting
