Job Overview:
As a Senior Backend Developer, you will have a strong background in Kotlin or Java and relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, with a proven track record of developing and delivering scalable, reliable, and efficient web applications. Experience with BI, API integrations, and familiarity with accounting and business software is highly considered/essential.

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will be responsible for supporting the current state of our product while also transitioning to scalable technologies in AWS. You will work closely with our Head of Engineering, Product Manager, Project Manager and Founder to ensure that our products meet the needs of our customers and continue to innovate in the industry.

Detailed Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the team to develop and implement product roadmaps and feature enhancements.
• Design and develop new features and functionalities for our web applications.
• Optimize and maintain existing codebase for scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
• Work with the team to ensure that development projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Collaborate with other developers and stakeholders to define and implement technical solutions.
• Build and manage a team of developers, mentoring and guiding junior members as needed.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in web development and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging activities.
• Ensure that our codebase is secure and compliant with relevant standards and regulations.

Agile/Scrum Practices:
1. Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives)
2. Collaborate with the Project Manager and Product Manager to define and refine acceptance criteria and the definition of done for user stories
3. Collaborate with the team on estimating testing efforts for user stories and features

Collaboration and Communication:
1. Work closely with developers to understand new features and potential areas of risk
2. Provide clear, concise feedback to the development team on issues found during testing
3. Interact with customers to gather feedback and conduct user acceptance testing when required
4. Provide feedback and recommendations to continuously improve our QA processes and practices

Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 5+ years of experience as a Backend Developer
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience working in a fast-paced, start-up environment
• Experience working with Kotlin or Java
