JOB OVERVIEW

Hi, I'm Dr. Abrar Al-Shaer, PhD, RD, LDN and I am a licensed registered dietitian nutritionist & herbalist in the United States. I run a women's health integrative nutrition medical practice, we are 3 providers in total, focused on improving hormone health through nutrition and lifestyle changes (Upgrade to see actual info). We help women throughout all stages of their life cycles uncover the underlying root causes behind their health issues and support them in feeling themselves again through nutrition and herbal medicine.

I'm seeking a part-time with the potential to full-time medical scribe/assistant for the practice. The scribe will first work with me (Abrar), with the potential of also supporting the other providers on the team as well. I'm looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented person who will be committed and motivated to support me & the team for many years to come.

1. Pre-Appointment & Chart Preparation
- Review and summarize patient intake forms before sessions.
- Conduct pre-charting by pulling in relevant history, past notes, and key health records.
- Identify missing or outdated lab tests and flag them for follow-up.
- Prepare initial MSQ (Medical Symptoms Questionnaire) scores and track rescoring.
2. Post-Session Documentation
- Draft care plan notes post-session based on the provider's recommendations (this includes writing up patient notes regarding their nutrition, exercise, and supplement plans)
- Creating supplement charts to support patients on remembering their medicine schedule
- Capture patient-reported symptoms, meal logs, lab test results, and lifestyle changes in charts.
3. Lab Tracking & Data Analysis
- Note lab results and trends in patient charts, graphing changes when necessary for easy interpretation.
- Assist in tracking patient biomarker progress over time.
- Follow up with patients regarding lab tests they need to complete, ensuring compliance and timely results.
4. Patient & Provider Coordination
- Facilitate handoffs between providers on the team, ensuring continuity of care.
- Gather and summarize relevant research or clinical information on specific topics for patient education or provider reference.
- Follow up on MSQ rescoring for patients at designated intervals.
5. Meal Planning
- Assist in creating personalized meal plans based on patient needs and dietary preferences.
6. Documentation
- Follow up with patients on obtaining necessary medical records, referrals, or physician letters for insurance claims.
- Track pending medical documentation requests and ensure patients submit required forms on time.
- Coordinate with Cherry (our wonderful full-time office assistant) to ensure patients’ referrals or documentation needs align with insurance requirements.
- Call/email/text patients & doctor's offices when necessary to obtain needed documentation.
