JOB OVERVIEW

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer with a strong background in conveyor systems and material handling equipment. The ideal candidate will translate concepts into detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings while collaborating closely with engineering, fabrication, and installation teams.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and develop conveyor systems, custom material-handling solutions, and related mechanical components (frames, rollers, guards, drive assemblies, etc.).
- Prepare 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks/Inventor or similar).
- Perform engineering calculations (load, stress, belt tensions, drive sizing) and ensure compliance with safety standards and industry codes.
- Collaborate with project managers, fabricators, and suppliers to review designs, address manufacturability, and manage revisions.
- Create and maintain bills of material (BOMs) and detailed documentation for production and installation.
- Support shop floor and field teams with design clarifications and troubleshooting during fabrication and commissioning.

Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or equivalent.
- 2+ years of mechanical design experience (preference for conveyor or material-handling systems).
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes: welding, sheet-metal fabrication, machining, and assembly.
- Understanding of drive systems, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and mechanical power transmission.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Assets:

- Experience with stainless-steel design for food or pharmaceutical conveyors.
- Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., CSA, OSHA) and hygienic design principles.
- Exposure to ERP/MRP systems for BOM and revision control.

Why Join Us:
- Work on innovative conveyor projects from concept to commissioning.
- Collaborative team environment with opportunities for professional growth.
