We are seeking a detail-oriented assistant to help build lighting control schedules for residential and commercial projects.
The role involves reviewing architectural and lighting drawings and transferring information into structured Excel spreadsheets used for commissioning and programming smart lighting systems.
Responsibilities
Review PDF lighting plans and electrical drawings.
Extract cable numbers, channel numbers and lighting group references.
Populate Excel schedules from marked-up plans.
Identify room names and assign fittings to rooms.
Categorise lighting types including:
Downlights
LED Strip
Wall Lights
Spot Lights
Pendants
Table Lamps
Floor Lamps
Up Lights
Maintain consistency of naming conventions.
Assist with building reusable spreadsheet templates for future projects.
Perform quality checks to identify duplicate numbers or missing information.
Desired Skills
Essential
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work from PDF drawings.
Good written English.
Comfortable following structured instructions.

Bluebeam

KNX
Electrical experience is not essential but is highly desirable.

For each project the assistant may:
Extract all cable numbers from a lighting plan.
Create a master spreadsheet.
Allocate:
Room Name
Lighting Type
Cable Number
Group Number
Switch Location
Prepare the spreadsheet for a lighting programmer.
Build reusable templates that can be used on future projects.
Long-Term Opportunity
This role is expected to grow into a permanent position assisting with smart-home and architectural lighting projects throughout Australia.

Initial Test Task;
Build a reusable Excel Online workbook in OneDrive for lighting control projects.
The workbook must support extraction of cable numbers, room names, fitting types, group addresses, keypad functions and scene programming.
The workbook will be used repeatedly on future residential lighting control projects.
Applicants will be given a lighting plan and asked to:
Extract cable numbers.
Identify duplicate numbers.
Populate a sample spreadsheet.
Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.
First project, I'd estimate:
Stage 1
Extract all FFA numbers.
Create master cable schedule.
Populate room names.
Populate lighting types.
Stage 2
Link fittings to groups.
Build dropdown menus.
Build validation rules.
Stage 3
Create a reusable template that works for:
C-Bus
Dynalite
DALI
KNX
Standard switching
Initially the first setting up should take around 20hours.
