Graphic Designer

Role Overview

We are looking for a reliable graphic designer to work with MDG Beverages on an ongoing freelance or part-time basis.

The main responsibility will be creating and refining label designs for bottles, cans, gift boxes, and other beverage packaging. We will often provide the concept, rough design direction, brand name, logo, colours, reference images, dielines, and required legal information. Your role will be to turn those ideas into polished, professional, print-ready Adobe Illustrator files.

You must be confident working with .ai files, printer dielines, bleed, safe zones, CMYK colour setup, foil layers, spot colours, and export formats required by commercial printers.

Key Responsibilities

* Take label concepts and creative direction from MDG Beverages and develop them into professional label designs.
* Create print-ready Adobe Illustrator .ai files for commercial label printing.
* Work from supplied dielines, templates, bottle/can dimensions, and printer specifications.
* Ensure all artwork includes correct bleed, trim lines, safe zones, and print setup.
* Prepare artwork for different print finishes, including foil, clear foil, spot colours, varnish, and premium label stocks where required.
* Adapt existing label templates into new brand or product designs while keeping the correct structure and legal information.
* Ensure all mandatory label details are included, such as:
* Pregnancy warning label
* Alcohol by volume, for example 40?V
* Bottle or can volume, for example 750ml or 330ml
* Standard drinks information
* MDG Beverages company name and address
* Batch numbers, barcode spaces, and other required label information where supplied
* Create mockups for approval, including bottle, can, box, and flat label previews.
* Make revisions quickly and accurately based on feedback.
* Maintain strong brand consistency across product ranges.
* Supply final files in the required formats, including .ai, print-ready PDF, PNG/JPEG mockups, and packaged files with linked assets where needed.
* Liaise with printers or follow printer artwork instructions when required.

Skills Required

The ideal candidate must have strong experience with:

* Adobe Illustrator
* Adobe Photoshop
* Print-ready packaging artwork
* Label design
* Beverage, alcohol, FMCG, cosmetics, or premium product packaging
* Dielines and commercial print setup
* CMYK colour setup
* Bleed, trim, safe zones, and crop marks
* Typography and layout
* Logo placement and brand consistency
* Preparing artwork for foil, spot colour, varnish, and special finishes
* Creating realistic product mockups

Experience with alcohol, wine, spirits, RTD, beer, or food and beverage packaging would be highly valued.

File Requirements

Final artwork must usually be supplied as:

* Editable Adobe Illustrator .ai file
* Print-ready PDF
* High-resolution PNG/JPEG mockup
* Fonts outlined where required
* Linked images embedded or supplied in a packaged folder
* Separate layers clearly named, including dieline, artwork, legal text, foil, varnish, and special finish layers where applicable

Ideal Person

You will be a good fit if you are detail-oriented, creative, reliable, and understand that label design is not just about making something look good. It must also be technically correct for printing.

We are looking for someone who can bring creative polish to our concepts while respecting the commercial, legal, and print requirements of alcohol packaging.

This could become ongoing work for the right person as MDG Beverages continues to develop new brands, products, collaborations, and limited edition releases.
