Cabinet Designer

Position Overview

The Cabinet Designer will be responsible for designing custom cabinetry and millwork projects from initial concept through production-ready drawings. Working closely with clients, sales representatives, project managers, and production teams, the designer will create innovative designs that meet client expectations, project requirements, and manufacturing standards.

The ideal candidate has experience in residential cabinetry design, kitchen and bath design, custom millwork, or interior design and is proficient in industry-standard design software.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Space Planning
Create custom cabinetry designs for kitchens, bathrooms, closets, offices, entertainment centers, and other residential and commercial spaces.
Develop space plans that maximize functionality, storage, and aesthetics.
Prepare detailed cabinet layouts, elevations, sections, and installation drawings.
Produce 3D renderings and presentations for client review and approval.
Client Collaboration
Meet with clients virtually or in person to understand project goals, style preferences, and budget requirements.
Present design concepts and revisions.
Guide clients through material, finish, hardware, and accessory selections.
Incorporate client feedback while maintaining design integrity and project feasibility.
Technical Documentation
Generate production-ready drawings and specifications.
Create detailed cut lists, cabinet schedules, and material requirements.
Coordinate with fabrication teams to ensure designs are accurately translated into production.
Review shop drawings and resolve technical issues.
Team Coordination
Collaborate with project managers, sales representatives, contractors, architects, and interior designers.
Support estimating by providing accurate design details and scope information.
Assist with project handoffs from design to production and installation.

Required
2+ years of experience in cabinet design, kitchen and bath design, millwork design, or related fields.
Proficiency in cabinet design software such as:
Cabinet Vision
2020 Design
Mozaik
SketchUp
AutoCAD
Chief Architect
Similar industry software
Strong understanding of cabinetry construction methods and materials.
Ability to read architectural plans and construction documents.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
