JOB OVERVIEW

Chris Corzo Injury Attorneys is a growing personal injury law firm based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States. We help injured clients and their families with urgency, integrity, and care.

We are hiring an Accounting Leader to own the day-to-day accounting function, improve and document processes, implement and ensure proper financial controls are in place, and be a part of our leadership team. Working hours are 8AM to 5PM CST. We are currently restructuring our company and preparing for rapid expansion. This is a department of one with a lot of growth opportunity.

The accounting leader is not just data entry/bookkeeping. We are looking for someone who can handle the day-to-day recurring accounting duties, but also someone who can be proactive in revamping processes/controls and provide visibility through financials and cashflow projections/analysis.

What You’ll Own:
-Bookkeeping, transaction coding, monthly close support, and reconciliations.
-Case accounting, settlement-related accounting, cost tracking, and IOLTA-related support.
-Payroll accounting, including payroll reports, coding, benefit deductions, payroll tax accounts, and liability reconciliation (payroll currently done through QBO but will eventually move to Paychex/Netchex or another software).
-Accounts payable, including bill entry, vendor tracking, payment planning, aging review, and expense coding.
-Financial Statements, budgeting and forecasting, including cash visibility and budget-to-actual reporting
-Accounting controls, documentation, issue-flagging, and clean approval workflows.

Who Fits This Role

You may be a strong fit if you:
-Have strong QuickBooks Online experience
-Take pride in clean numbers, accurate records, and reliable reporting
-You have compiled P&L, cash flow projections, and various financial analytic reports
-Understand a company's financial health through reviewing the balance sheet
-Communicate clearly, factually, and professionally
-Can work independently without needing constant direction
-Maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information
-You want a full-time position with growth opportunity (not just another bookkeeping client)

Who Will Struggle:
-This role is not a fit for someone who:
-Wants a constantly changing or people-heavy role
-Dislikes structure, process, details, or accountability
-Treats accounting as simply bookkeeping instead of financial control
-Leaves reconciliations, coding issues, or follow-up unfinished
-Needs constant direction

Required Qualifications:
-10+ years of accounting experience
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
-Strong QuickBooks Online experience
-High accuracy with reconciliations, coding, AP, payroll accounting, and financial reports
-Full-time availability, Monday through Friday
-Strong written English communication
-Ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications:
-Law firm, professional services, or startup/growth-company experience.
-Experience with case costs, settlement accounting, or trust/IOLTA-related support.
-Master’s degree or advanced accounting training.
-CPA
