I am a licensed mental health practitioner with significant experiences on addiction counseling, community engagements, program planning, and a dedicated student leader during my entire college life.
Currently I am associated with Philippine Mental Health Association, Inc., in one of their chapters as the head of Education and Information Services; my relevant role is to provide assistance or spear head mental health programs or events that benefits professionals, various community/city citizens, children. I also provide intake interview with clients who seek psychological interventions.
For 3 years until the present, I serve as a volunteer addiction practitioner/counselor/staff in an addiction rehabilitation center in our city; I co- and facilitate group counseling sessions, provide charted information that improves individualized treatment plans for our clients, and conduct lectures addressing concerns erodes an individual and his or her family due to addiction.
I spent 3 months of service providing remote mental health psychosocial support for our Filipino service users who are seeking for psychological interventions.
While still in college, I spent almost 7 years as a customer sales representative to our small family business, primarily run by my aunt, with 10-15 employees. We sell various goods—clothes, plastic wares, kitchen materials, food products, and others that are commonly found in every household. Engaging with our customer to buy our products has become one of my works, this in turn become a skill on my end—being able to talk to the customer with professionalism while managing my emotions in cases where a customer vents his or her dissatisfaction of our products. Later, I became a cashier in the same store and eventually a proxy to our manager and the owner should they are not around. Primarily, I managed employee relations, ensuring that relationships between employees are well so as not to affect the business' productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
So, what is the point of this?
While I have my full-time work, I manage to provide positive outcomes not out of compliances but of genuineness and passion towards my different roles. Pressure is always with me, however, being able to see and understand people who are clinging to recovery carrying their lifetimes' baggage, I get to uplift myself and carry on wisely. Moreover, I gain trust certainly not because of nepotism but by my fair and honest actions that eventually provide an increase in team productivity and enhanced wellbeing.
